On Saturday 20th April we gathered together for Representative Synod at St James Road Methodist Church in Southampton.
It was a very special Synod - plenty of business in the morning including some important appointments for the future leadership of the District. But it was the afternoon that was truly wonderful! Revd Andrew de Ville led us in worship and Holy Communion, his last as District Chair of the Southampton District. Revd Mike Parker, Chaplain General of His Majesty's Land Forces, and Revd David Barrett, Deputy Chaplain General, gave readings along with Andrew's wife, Helen. Some 130 people worshipped and sang beautifully together as we celebrated the life of the District and the gift that has been Andrew over the past 4.5 years.
After the service we shared a homemade cream tea wonderfully provided by the host church, and of course cake!
