Most of our churches have some level of ecumenical engagement ranging from simple friendly relationships with neighbouring churches of different traditions, through local Churches Together groups, to Local Ecumenical Partnerships (LEPs) where a single congregation relates to more than one parent denomination. Most of the LEPs in the District involve the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church whilst a smaller number also involve the Church of England and the Baptist Union. At District level we also seek to relate to county level Churches Together grouping where they exist and to the parallel structures of partner churches, notably the Wessex Synod of the United Reformed Church and various Church of England Dioceses. Members of the Ecumenical Team provide advice and guidance on ecumenical questions to the whole District. The current team members are Dudley Coates (team leader with primary responsibility for Dorset), Doreen Dace (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight) and the Revd Peter Bennett (Berkshire).
